In the heart of Dijon, around the Île auf Canards, there is a small port in the Canal de Bourgogne.

Restaurants in central squares often cater to tourists. Here in Dijon, some of the establishments on Place de la Libération are highly recommended, such as Le Pré au Clercs.

The city center, with its authentic, medieval flair, has often been the backdrop for films such as Cyrano de Bergerac

Formerly Place Royale, then Place d'Armes, Place de la Libération is a must-see in the city of Dijon. Located in its heart, just above the town hall stands the Philippe le Bon tower. Beautiful illuminations in the evening, and, in the summer, a few fountains and numerous terraces for dining or enjoying a drink.

Look up a lot to see the typical enamelled tiled roofs.

Very pretty oak to see

Path that runs along the small river of the Sansfond. Doable on gravel but to be done at reduced speed because of some tricky passages and quite a few roots on the route. Lots of mosquitoes in summer.

Originally, the Saint-Jean-de-Losne bridge was made of wood and crossed the river diagonally by road no. 27 linking Dijon to Losne. It started on the right bank, a little downstream from the current bridge, and then joined the old Seurre road. The structure was destroyed many times by floods and ice break-ups, but was always rebuilt in the same place until 1830. It was rebuilt in stone from 1833, then rebuilt again after being cut down during the war of 1870… The bridge suffered damage from the war twice more. On June 16, 1940, French engineers blew up an arch, and on September 7, 1944, the retreating Germans dynamited the rest. It was then replaced by a temporary wooden footbridge. After the liberation, the reconstruction work was put out to tender. After all these twists and turns, the bridge was finally rebuilt in the same place in 1950.
