In the heart of Montagnette, the Saint Michel de Frigolet abbey is undoubtedly worth a detour and a visit. Best discovered on foot or by bike to enjoy the magnificent views from the surrounding slopes and paths.

In the center of the village stood a promontory on which there was a church surrounded by six chapels. During several heavy floods, on November 6, 1666, the Rhône swept away part of the hill and the church collapsed. The Consuls of the time bought a 16th century house belonging to Mrs. DEPESTEL DECAYLUS and transformed it into a church. They added three chapels with stones recovered from the river. The entrance porches as well as the bas-relief above date from the old church.
