This memorial cross made of light wood—dedicated to the memory of a deceased monk—is one of many that bikers encounter repeatedly along the way. They are all symbols of remembrance of the crucifixion, but also of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. + "With us on earth, His memory exists, but in the kingdom of heaven is His presence: This presence is the joy of those who have already attained salvation. The memory is our consolation, as we are still wanderers, journeying toward our fatherland." (Bernard of Clairvaux) Some passersby have placed stones at the foot of the small sacred monument.

Not only one cross greets the hiker here, but a group of three crosses - as the name "Les Trois Croix" suggests - we find on this mountain. A wayside cross or summit cross commemorates Jesus Christ, namely the middle one. The other two are not here without reason: According to biblical tradition, Jesus Christ was not condemned to death by crucifixion alone, but together with two criminals (see, for example, the evangelist Luke 22:33): + "They came to the place called the Place of the Skull, and there they crucified him and the criminals, one on his right and the other on his left." +

The Chapel of the Three Crosses was founded in 1523. It is perched on the north shore of the lake at an altitude of 609m and offers an excellent panorama.

Surprisingly, this castle is not as old as many of its contemporaries. Built between 1861 and 1866, it replaced a simple fortified house present on the site since the 13th century.
