Very pretty view of the Moras pond

The N.D de la Salette chapel was built in 1866. Nestled on a promontory belonging to the commune of Veyssilie, it offers a lovely view of the Isère plain.

Located in the department of Isère, the Etang de Moras is a well-known place for fishermen. The path which borders the pond offers an alternation of passages through the undergrowth and clear views. It’s an ideal setting for a stroll.

On September 19, 1846, the Virgin appeared to two young shepherds, Mélanie Calvat and Maximin Giraud, in La Salette, in Isère. The cult of Notre-Dame de la Salette then spread rapidly across the Dauphiné. The chapel of Veyssilieu was built at the top of the "mountain of Chatelan" in 1866, following a wish from the parish priest who promised the Virgin to build a chapel for her if she protected her parishioners from cholera. The modest building was blessed in 1867. On this occasion, the group sculpted in polychrome plaster, placed in the niche above the altar, was transported with great pomp.
