Nice walk as soon as you cross the first small bridge. The path towards Jameyzieu is pleasant and was passable (because it is well maintained). After crossing the departmental road (crossing the bridge) the path is a little less good but it is still possible to continue the walk to the next small bridge. Return on the other bank to Jameyzieu. But, there, you have to return on the same bank as on the way there. Apparently, the municipality or municipalities in charge of maintaining the path on the opposite bank do not take care of it. I had to turn around to take the same bank as on the way there. Too bad, but a nice walk when it's hot 😉

The N.D de la Salette chapel was built in 1866. Nestled on a promontory belonging to the commune of Veyssilie, it offers a lovely view of the Isère plain.

The pond of Chalignieu was recently classified ENS (Sensitive Natural Space). The site is home to many migrating passerines. At the confluence of many paths, it is also a place of walk appreciated by the inhabitants of the surroundings.

On September 19, 1846, the Virgin appeared to two young shepherds, Mélanie Calvat and Maximin Giraud, in La Salette, in Isère. The cult of Notre-Dame de la Salette then spread rapidly across the Dauphiné. The chapel of Veyssilieu was built at the top of the "mountain of Chatelan" in 1866, following a wish from the parish priest who promised the Virgin to build a chapel for her if she protected her parishioners from cholera. The modest building was blessed in 1867. On this occasion, the group sculpted in polychrome plaster, placed in the niche above the altar, was transported with great pomp.
