Very nice place, well suited for cycling.

The detour is worth it for a break. If you take one here, you'll desperately need it. The forest path before it is already "awful." And the best part: if you continue cycling along the canal towards the Geeste, it unfortunately doesn't get any better in many very sandy spots. This is written by a touring cyclist, not a mountain biker.

Very beautiful half-timbered church, it was built around 1630.

For one euro, you can operate the mill and let the mill wheel spin for 10 minutes. It's wonderful to listen to the rippling water.

Oste is a tide-influenced tributary of the Lower Elbe, which flows through the flat marshland in wide meanders and has a largely natural water structure. Its lower reaches are dominated by the changing rhythm of ebb and flow and the associated fluctuations in flow speed. To protect the hinterland from flooding, the lower reaches of the Oste up to Bremervörde are dammed almost along their entire length.
