This landscape features numerous steep cliffs and dry, deciduously forested Wied valley slopes like those on the Rhine, geotopes, and open basalt and quartzite quarries that initiated the construction of the railway. A fantastic landscape for outdoor enjoyment, with scenic highlights, natural areas such as floodplains and the unique features of extensive wet meadows in the wide Wied valley floor, dry deciduous forests, steep stream tributaries, and a cultural area for villages and agriculture.

Beautiful, shady location at the confluence of the Almersbach and Wied, bench nearby. People have been making pilgrimages here since the 13th century through a ford. The beautifully situated Almersbach church with late Romanesque origins stands enthroned above.
