    Il nome New Helgoland deriva probabilmente dallo zeitgeist dell'era coloniale; nel 1890, l'isola al largo di Helgoland fu trasferita dal territorio inglese a quello tedesco in cambio di Zanzibar (Melchers Hütte era conosciuta all'epoca anche come New Camerun).
