What are the best options for parking along the Loisach Riverside Path?

Parking is available in many of the communities along the route. Popular starting points like Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Murnau am Staffelsee, and Kochel am See offer various parking facilities, often near train stations or town centers. Are there any specific viewpoints or hidden gems along the route?

Beyond the general scenic beauty, the path offers numerous picturesque spots. Cyclists often highlight the stretch between Ehrwald and Garmisch-Partenkirchen for its stunning mountain views. The tranquil moorlands near Murnau and Kochelsee are excellent for birdwatching and offer unique natural beauty. Detours to the Glentleiten open-air museum or the charming market town of Murnau am Staffelsee are also highly recommended for cultural insights.

The communities along the Loisach Riverside Path, such as Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Murnau am Staffelsee, and Kochel am See, offer a wide range of gastronomic options, from traditional Bavarian inns to cafes and restaurants. You'll also find various accommodation types, including hotels, guesthouses, and holiday apartments, catering to different budgets. It's a good idea to check opening hours and book accommodation in advance, especially during peak travel times.

How does the terrain vary along the 100-kilometer route?

The Loisach Riverside Path features a diverse surface. You'll encounter sections of paved asphalt, particularly in and around towns, as well as gravel paths through more rural and natural areas. Is the Loisach Riverside Path suitable for cycling in winter?

Always bring a waterproof or windproof jacket, even on sunny days, as conditions can change quickly, especially near the mountains. Sturdy cycling shoes and a helmet are also essential for safety and comfort.
