The path encircling Loidlsee offers a varied experience. The southern side is densely overgrown with several footbridges and benches, featuring natural terrain with uphill sections, roots, stones, and narrow boards. The northern shore offers a smoother forest path. There are numerous places to sit and rest, making it easy to take breaks.

While the intro doesn't specify winter activities, the area is likely suitable for winter walks, though paths might be icy or snowy. It's primarily a fishing lake, so angling is a consistent activity.

Where can I find parking near Loidlsee, and are there any fees?

Based on common advice for popular natural spots, parking can fill up quickly, especially on weekends or during peak seasons. Arriving earlier in the day is often recommended. Specific fees are not mentioned, but it's always good to have some small change for potential parking meters.

    Can I swim in Loidlsee?

No, Loidlsee is not intended for swimming. It is primarily managed as a fishing lake by the Miesbach-Tegernsee District Fishing Association. Visitors should respect this designation and refrain from entering the water.

How can I access Loidlsee using public transportation?

What is the historical significance of Loidlsee being known as 'Silbersee'?

Loidlsee is also known locally as 'Silbersee' (Silver Lake) due to a unique historical connection. From 1972 into the 1980s, a Western-themed town called 'Fort Christoph' was located here. The operators of 'Fort Christoph' adopted the name 'Silbersee,' inspired by Karl May's famous novel, 'Der Schatz im Silbersee' (The Treasure of Silver Lake), and the name has persisted among locals ever since.

What is the origin of Loidlsee, and how was it formed?

Loidlsee has a fascinating and relatively recent origin. Unlike many natural lakes, it was not formed by glacial activity or natural depressions. Instead, it originated in the 1950s due to a landslide from the former Hausham mine. This landslide dammed the Tiefenbach stream, leading to the creation of the lake. Historical maps do not show the lake, confirming its more modern formation.
