    " Dal 1837, la comunità polacca di Chicago ha dato un enorme contributo al benessere economico, sociale e culturale della città. Era quindi opportuno erigere un monumento al più grande astronomo polacco, Nicolaus Copernicus (1473 – 1543).

    Considerato il padre dell'astronomia moderna, Copernico sfidò credenze secolari. Fu il pioniere della teoria secondo cui la Terra non era il centro del sistema solare e ruotava invece attorno al sole. Le sue teorie cambiarono per sempre la scienza.     In una notte buia puoi vedere circa 3500 stelle ad occhio nudo. A Chicago solo 35 a causa dell'inquinamento luminoso, è un bene che ci sia un planetario per godersi lo splendore del cielo notturno e l'infinito, almeno artificialmente proiettato.
