    Consiglio assolutamente consigliato. L'Hohenstein è un'alta pietra, una ripida scogliera fatta di dolomite, una barriera corallina fossilizzata del Devoniano medio risalente a circa 390 milioni di anni fa, quando giganteschi anfibi strisciavano attraverso le foreste primordiali della Germania. La pioggia e il vento hanno staccato la vecchia barriera corallina dal ripido pendio scosceso del Wupper.

    Un tempo l'imponente roccia dolomitica e la vista su Barmen erano uno spettacolo. Il ripido pendio con l'incrocio di due sentieri è rimasto poco sviluppato. L'architetto dei giardini Arthur Stüting lo progettò intorno al 1900 trasformandolo in una piccola area verde (0,45 ettari). L'Hohenstein è ora protetto come monumento naturale. Dal 2008, grazie ad un'ampia apertura, i visitatori del parco possono nuovamente sedersi al sole e godersi la vista libera sulla roccia e sul Wuppertal.
