    Intorno alla metà del XII secolo furono avviati i lavori dell'attuale Chiesa di San Giacomo. Come spesso accade per gli edifici storici, anche questa chiesa è stata costruita e ristrutturata per secoli. Una delle opere d'arte più belle della chiesa è un tabernacolo rinascimentale in marmo nero e rame.
    Purtroppo l'apertura della chiesa è limitata, solo il venerdì e il sabato mattina.

    Ogni venerdì, sabato e domenica mattina, la vivace piazza intorno al Sint-Jacobskerk è occupata dal mercato delle pulci.
    Il mercato è così radicato che nelle vie intorno alla chiesa romanica di San Giacomo – accanto alla rinomata galleria antiquaria San Giovanni – si sono annidati vari ninnoli e curiosità. A Sint-Jacobs è davvero il posto giusto per i collezionisti!

    Le due torri risalgono al periodo romanico, ma da allora la chiesa è stata più volte vandalizzata, ampliata e ricostruita.
