    Dopo che le città di Elberfeld, Barmen e altre città precedentemente indipendenti furono fuse per formare la nuova città di Wuppertal nel 1929, la sede del consiglio comunale e la sede dell'amministrazione comunale furono trasferite nel municipio di Barmen.
