Piccolo, raffinato e molto nascosto: solo gli addetti ai lavori del villaggio trovano la loro strada qui. E i boy scout come noi, provano ogni possibile e impossibile strada.

Is the Swimming Spot at Stendorfer See officially designated for swimming, or is it an unofficial bathing area?

The Swimming Spot at Stendorfer See is often described by visitors as a small, somewhat hidden bathing area and an 'insider tip.' While it provides amenities like a table and a trash can, suggesting an inviting space for lingering and swimming, it is not explicitly stated as an 'official' public swimming spot with lifeguards or extensive facilities. It's more of a tranquil, secluded natural area for bathing.

Are there specific rules or permits required for swimming in Stendorfer See?

The Stendorfer See is primarily utilized as a fishing lake and is privately owned by the Stendorf Manor House. While the specific swimming spot is frequented by visitors, there is no mention of official swimming permits being required. However, as it's a private lake, visitors should always be respectful of the natural environment and any unstated local customs or rules.

What are the options for parking when visiting the Swimming Spot at Stendorfer See?

Parking directly at the secluded swimming spot is limited. Visitors typically park in nearby Kasseedorf or at other access points and then walk to the spot. The intro mentions that 'parking near the Stendorfer See lake swimming area is limited,' suggesting that finding a convenient spot might require a short walk. Arriving early, especially during peak season, is advisable.

How can I reach the Swimming Spot at Stendorfer See using public transport?

While the area is quite rural, public transport options to Kasseedorf, the nearest village, might exist. From Kasseedorf, you would need to walk to the swimming spot. The best approach is to check local bus schedules for routes serving Kasseedorf and then plan your walk along the Schwentine river or the lake shore, which are described as pleasant paths.

Is the Swimming Spot at Stendorfer See suitable for families with young children?

Yes, the spot is considered family-friendly due to its tranquil and secluded nature. It's a peaceful place away from crowds, offering a table and a clean trash can, which can be convenient for families. The paths leading to it are described as pleasant, making for an enjoyable walk with children, though some paths might be winding.

Are dogs allowed at the Swimming Spot at Stendorfer See, and are there any specific rules?

There is no explicit mention of dog access rules for the swimming spot itself. However, as a natural area popular with hikers, it's generally expected that dogs are kept on a leash and owners clean up after them. Given the lake's private ownership and primary use for fishing, it's always best to exercise caution and respect for other visitors and the wildlife.

What is the water quality like in Stendorfer See for swimming?

Specific data on the water quality for swimming at Stendorfer See is not readily available. The lake is a natural body of water traversed by the River Schwentine and fed by smaller lakes. It is also used as a fishing lake. Visitors describe the spot as inviting for swimming, implying generally acceptable conditions, but official bathing water quality reports are not provided.

Are there any cafes, pubs, or accommodation options near the Swimming Spot at Stendorfer See or in Kasseedorf?

The nearest village is Kasseedorf. While the immediate vicinity of the swimming spot is natural and secluded, Kasseedorf may offer some basic amenities like cafes or guesthouses. For a wider range of options, you might need to look towards larger towns in the Holstein Switzerland region. It's advisable to check local listings for Kasseedorf prior to your visit.

What are some popular short trails or access points to reach the swimming spot?

Visitors often reach the swimming spot via pleasant paths. Two main approaches are mentioned: either following the course of the Schwentine river from the east, starting from Kasseedorf, or walking along the shore of Lake Stendorf from the northwest. One tip specifically warns to 'be careful not to miss the turnoff 200m in front of the radio mast' if coming from Kasseedorf, to avoid dead ends.

How crowded does the Swimming Spot at Stendorfer See typically get, especially during peak season?

The Swimming Spot at Stendorfer See is widely regarded as a 'hidden gem' and an 'insider tip,' suggesting it generally remains less crowded than more well-known bathing areas. However, during peak summer months and on warm weekends, its popularity might increase. Due to its secluded nature, it's unlikely to experience the same level of crowds as larger, official beaches, maintaining its tranquil atmosphere.

What kind of fish can be found in Stendorfer See, and is fishing permitted?

The Stendorfer See is actively used as a fishing lake. Anglers can expect to catch various species, including pike, eel, perch, tench, and stocked carp. Occasionally, burbot may also be caught. As it is a private lake, fishing is likely permitted by the manor house, but typically requires a valid fishing license and potentially a day permit from the owner or a local fishing club.

What is the terrain and elevation like on the trails leading to the swimming spot?

The Stendorfer See is situated within a 'rolling moraine landscape' and 'hilly moraine landscape' in Holstein Switzerland. This suggests that the paths leading to the swimming spot, while described as pleasant, may involve gentle inclines and declines. The lake itself is at an elevation of around 32.6 meters above sea level, indicating a relatively low-lying area within the undulating terrain.
