    Secondo la leggenda, nel Medioevo, un cavaliere dal cuore spezzato cadde dalla piattaforma rocciosa nelle profondità. All'inizio del 20° secolo, il Rittersturz divenne un popolare luogo di escursioni. All'inizio quassù c'era solo una piccola taverna nel bosco, poi negli anni '20 fu costruito un elegante albergo. Tuttavia, l'hotel è stato demolito alla fine degli anni '70.

    Nel 1948, i primi ministri degli stati federali della Germania occidentale si incontrarono nell'hotel e concordarono la fusione per formare la Repubblica federale di Germania. La colonna di basalto scuro sulla piattaforma ne è un ricordo oggi.
