    Il villaggio di Hummstadt - come un tempo veniva chiamato Hohenstadt con il suo castello e la chiesa di pellegrinaggio - fu menzionato per la prima volta nel 1147.

    Il giardino di siepi del castello di Hohenstadt del conte Adelmann si trova a pochi passi a nord del castello ed è uno dei giardini di questo tipo più antichi d'Europa. Fu menzionato per la prima volta nel 1549. Nel 1756 fu ricostruito in stile francese. La casa del piacere in giardino, una "casa giardino" a due piani, fu costruita nel 1760. L'intero complesso è un edificio storico dal 1982 ed è aperto al pubblico.
