The building originally served as an FDGB (Free German Trade Union Federation) holiday home during the East German era. It was later revitalized and transformed into a grand art piece by internationally renowned Pop-Art artist Michael Fischer-Art. He began painting the facade in September 2015, completing the front facade by Christmas 2015 and the entire 12,435 square meter exterior by August 2016. This project evolved into a holistic concept, integrating art into the hotel's interior design and even its cuisine.

The facade is impressive from various angles. Good viewpoints include the hotel's own grounds, especially from the lakeside, where the full scale of the artwork facing the Lübbesee can be appreciated. Yes, the facade can be enjoyed year-round, offering a unique visual contrast against a snowy landscape. The surrounding area also offers opportunities for winter walks, and if conditions allow, ice skating on frozen lakes (at your own risk) or cross-country skiing.
