Before the Second World War, around 450 choirs adorned the city's houses. The bombings destroyed 350 of them. Some were saved and stored by the city's building authority, but were then lost until the reconstruction period. The cityscape owes 17 renovated or reinstalled choirs within Nuremberg's old town to the Nuremberg Old Town Friends, who have been committed to preserving historical buildings since 1973.

Vandring

An early choir is the Gothic choir at the Selbalder Hof, directly opposite the Sebalder Church. The rectory was mainly built around 1361/1379. Its buildings are grouped around a courtyard. The choir is a copy from 1898/1902. The original can be viewed in the Germanic National Museum.

Another Gothic choir is the one on the east side of the Old Town Hall

At the Sebalder rectory you can still find a small choir in its original meaning: as the choir of a house band. The extension, which was artfully crafted around 1365, is decorated with ornaments and pictorial representations.
