South of Breisach's old town rises a small, vine-covered hill with the unusual name Eckartsberg. A castle and a small monastery once stood atop it, but nothing remains of either. Today, however, Eckartsberg offers magnificent panoramic views of Breisach.

To enhance its cultural appeal, a walking trail called "Poetry Along the Way" has been created around and over Eckartsberg. The trail begins in Marienau, initially circling Eckartsberg, then following the Artur-Uhl-Weg up to the viewpoint on the Eckartsberg Terrace, and finally returning to the starting point via the small western staircase.
