This is the view from Eckhartsberg. A castle and a monastery once stood on the hill.

In 1851, an obelisk was erected here to commemorate the incorporation of Breisach and the Breisgau region into the Grand Duchy of Baden in 1806. A European flag commemorates the Breisach referendum on Europe held on July 9, 1950.

Vandring

Eckartsberg rises south of the town center to a height of 221.3 meters above sea level, almost 50 meters above the level of the market square. It has an oval shape, extending approximately 300 meters from north to south and 220 meters from east to west. Most of the hill is planted with vines. There are two access points to the hilltop: a staircase at the end of Marienau Street and the paved "Artur-Uhl-Weg," which also serves as an access road to the vineyards.
