The Red Gate of the old market fortifications of Spitz offers a beautiful view of the market town in front of the Tausendeimerberg mountain.

The last of the seven fortified gates to be captured by the Swedes in the Thirty Years War, with high blood toll on both sides. The name “Red Gate” reminds us of this bloody time. It is also called the Swedish Gate and is a popular destination with a beautiful view of Spitz.
