Nice excursion cafe with a large terrace and a covered seating area. Today's cafe is the stable building of the original cottage. The mansion itself is no longer preserved, only the historic tower is still standing today. Brandon's Cottage serves drinks, cakes and snacks.

Nowaydays - no Internet/no card payment - just a place to relax.
Can be reached hiking & biking and by boat (and short walk).
The boats will transport bikes as well.

The story of Lord Brandon is an interesting one. Various legends are associated with the stone tower and cottage at the top of the upper lake in Killarney.

Very little is left of the old structures, with exception to a crumbling tower where, according to local folklore, Lord Brandon imprisoned his young wife after hearing that she had had an affair with Lord Melbourne, Britain’s future PM.
