The Metropol Parasol is the largest wooden structure in the world. It is composed of two concrete columns that house the elevators leading to the observation deck.
Its shape, resembling giant mushrooms, has led to its popular nickname, the Encarnación Mushrooms.
It was designed by architect Jürgen Mayer and opened in 2011.

Vandring

There is a viewing platform on the roof. However, the access is via an elevator through the "basement" - so you have to go to the very top to go to the very bottom.
The observation deck is open until late in the evening, at night it is especially atmospheric up here.
