From the Vercors town of Saint-Nizier-du-Moucherotte, this short Tour takes you up to the north over the stunning Plateau Charvet and loops back to the town.

From the high town, you start by descending off the hillside to the north to La Chaussère, then take the singletrack to Rochetière.

Shortly after the road section, you peel off onto a dirt doubletrack, descending to meet Chemin de Charvet which leads you north-east.

Here, you gradually climb, passing close to the peak of Mollard Gargot on your left. Keep ascending through the village of Charvet, then take the singletrack right across the plateau. Join the flat Chemin des Roux on the plateau, heading south.

You'll rejoin an earlier track to complete the first loop, before heading back into Saint-Nizier-du-Moucherotte from the east, climbing from Les Michallons back through La Chaussère.

From the town of Autrans, this 27.1 kilometre (18.8 mile) mountain biking Tour leads you north to La Sure on the valley balcony track, before zig-zagging steadily up the hillside to the east to reach the high alpine pastures of Molière and Charande.

The far-reaching alpine mountain views here are simply spectacular, especially in clear conditions. Now, at the highest point of the Tour, the best is yet to come with the descending!

After traversing the ridge heading south, the first set of singletrack switchbacks await. These lead you west, away from Pas de Bellecombe, before you cross the forest road. More switchbacks await here: tight at first before widening out as you approach Le Bouchet.

The gradients ease as you spend the last stint spinning back into the town of Autrans, no doubt ready for something to eat and drink!

Named after the easily accessible cave of Grotte de la Ture, this loop from Autrans spans 26.1 kilometres (16.2 miles) of mountain doubletrack, spectacular singletrack and quiet tarmac, with some incredible sites to visit along the way.

You'll get warmed up straight away with the climb out of Autrans, almost straight onto a dirt track to the west of the town, heading north. The incline is steady to start, but after you pass the Auberge du Banc de l'Ours, things get a little steeper.

Thankfully perhaps, at least this section is on the road, all the way up to the Fontaine de Font Cellier, where you peel off onto a forest road.

Enjoy this easier section, and perhaps nosey around the Grotte de la Ture as you pass to check out the impressive stalagmites and stalactites. Next, the climb continues on the fire road, to reach the highest point on the Tour.

All that pedalling will be worthwhile as you swoop down the first descent, zig-zagging tightly on fun singletrack before you reach the fire road once more. There's a bit more climbing as you head north on the singletrack, but then after crossing the road, it's gently downhill for a good while.

Before heading back to Autrans, the route takes the high track down the valley to La Sure, before returning south on a much more mellow combination of road and doubletrack with a gentle downhill gradient.

If you've still got some energy in the legs, complete the route by climbing to the east of Autrans. Drop down into Le Bouchet for an easier final run into the town.

This short MTB Tour heads out of Lans-en-Vercors and up the hillsides to the west, reaching La Col de la Croix de Servagnet at 1,235 metres (4,052 ft) and circling back to the south.

From the large car park on Route de l'Aigle, the Tour heads through the centre of town past the tourism office to climb the Route de la Croix Perrin. You soon veer off this tarmac to join a mountain track, passing Grotte des Eymards and continuing to climb to the west through Chemin Neuf.

You can take the singletrack from the road to reach the high point of La Croix de Servagnet, and then rejoin singletrack through the forest over the high point of the Tour.

Enjoy the thrilling singletrack descent off the hillside to the south, before crossing the road and Route du Bois Noir. Loop back to Lans-en-Vercors using roads, a little singletrack and some dirt doubletrack sections.

Featuring one mighty climb to the Croix des Suifs, this mid-length MTB Tour is a loop south of Lans-en-Vercours, with an easy ride back into the town along the flat and traffic-free ViaVercors route.

Expect to take a couple of hours to complete the route, or longer if you pack a picnic!

From the edge of Lans-en-Vercors, start by heading south, onto a singletrack climb from Les Cléments. When you reach Les Blancs, things really heat up with a tougher incline, although now you'll be on a fire road.

At the top of the climb, the gradients shallow out a little until you reach the Croix des Suifs, which is also a mountain bike trailhead.

Head south along the high ridge now, close past the Auberge des Allières and enjoy the long forested singletrack descent to the edge of Villard-de-Lans.

Returning to the start is easy, thanks to the straight, flat section of the ViaVercors route which links these two prominent towns.

If you're looking for a short spin that packs in some mega views, this 10.2 kilometre (6.3 mile) loop to the Bec de l' Aigle is for you.

From the car park, start with a short, steep climb to the east, before dropping straight back down onto roads and tracks heading north.

For a while you follow and cross the main road up through the valley, before the flat forest road takes you off to the left, leading to the incredible panoramic viewpoint of Bec de l' Aigle, or the Eagle's Beak, which overlooks the Gorges du Bruyant.

Gradients are more gentle on the return leg to the west, with fire roads leading to Les Falcons and through the centre of town.

The black-rated extreme Parcours La Légende 87 has been based on the 1987 World Cup course, and will surely test both the skills and stamina of even the most experienced riders.

As well as the most technical, it's also the longest of the trails at 45 kilometres (28 miles). Even though there are a few places to get refreshments along the route, you should always carry some snacks and plenty of water, just in case.

This route is not marked or signposted on the ground, so make sure you download the GPX track (offline map download recommended here) so you can follow along on your phone or GPS head unit.

Unlike the other mountain biking routes in this Collection, the red-rated Parcours La Royale starts further south, on the southern outskirts of Corrençon-en-Vercors from the golf course.

At a longer 29 kilometres (18 miles), the loop heads to the west, taking in Belvédère de Valchevrière and Plaine d'Herbouilly, as well as passing many mountain refuges along the way. Prepare for some exquisite views on this mountainous loop.

You start out on mostly forest roads as you pass Refuge de Roybon and Scialet des Joufflus caves heading north. Contouring around the slopes to the north, you'll reach Belvédère de Valchevrière and the Cross of Valchevrière, a World War II memorial. Take a moment to enjoy the views over Gorges de la Bourne here.

Take the off-road climb next, reaching the tarmac and carrying on up before you peel off to the left onto a singletrack trail. This widens and narrows periodically as you make your way up to Plaine d'Herbouilly, a magical green, high plain in the mountains.

Before heading back to complete the loop, the route takes a leg to the south, mostly through forests on wider gravel tracks, staying high and passing close by Auberge du Clariant. The descending comes right at the end with a fantastic doubletrack adrenaline rush back down to town!

The Clariant Loop is a blue-rated mountain biking trail measuring 21 kilometres (13 miles), featuring a few larger climbs, including the summit at the Auberge du Clariant.

From the town of Villard-de-Lans, you head south on this mostly out-and-back route, with a few loops through Corrençon-en-Vercors and up to the auberge. To start, climb on a series of cycleways, dirt roads and quiet lanes to pass Le Balcon de Villard, through Les Bouchards and into Corrençon-en-Vercors from the east.

After this flatter section parallel to the river, you start to climb again, up through the golf course and into the woodland where you can pause at the auberge at the halfway point for some refreshments.

Take the easy descent back down to the golf course, through the town and retrace your steps back to Villard-de-Lans to complete the loop.

This circular route from Villard-de-Lans is suitable for cyclists of all abilities. Rated as an easy green trail, it has a wide path and gentle inclines. There's plenty of space for children's trailers or riders with adapted bicycles too.

Head north from the village for a tour of the gorgeous Payonère plain, which is dominated by the sight of the rock face of the eastern balcony of the Vercors Isère.

Take the flatter terrain alongside the base of the Sommet de Meillarot on the traffic-free cycle route before crossing the Route des Geymonds past Feverlley onto more cycle tracks and dirt roads.

You'll pass by the arboretum that gives the route its name before heading back into the town from the north-east on Route des Vières, crossing over Ruisseau de Font Noire.
