Wonderful tour from Lake Vilsalp to the Upper Traualpe.Wonderful hike for the whole family. See for yourself, in the nature reserve Vilsalpsee a dreamlike landscape awaits you. The hike to the Upper Traualpe is not difficult but a little strenuous. However, it definitely pays off.Directions:
We start from the nature reserve Vilsalpsee. We hike back on the west bank to an unmanaged alpine pasture. Here we follow the signs to Traualpe / Lansberger Hütte.
The path first leads us a little through the forest before we cross the open pasture often. The slope is gradually becoming more harmless. After a while we hike along the rock face. Once here, the way is not far. When we reach the top, a wonderful mountain panorama opens up. In front of us the Traualpsee and behind it rocky and pointed mountains. Just wonderful.Tip:
Enjoy the hearty snacks and the homemade delicacies in the Upper Traualpe.

A promising hike below the Tannheimer chain.A hike with a wonderful view over the Tannheim valley. The path is well developed and it is fun to hike. A stop in the Schneetalalm, in the Tannheimer Hütte or in the Gimpelhaus pays off.Directions:
The hike begins in Nesselwängle, above the church. First towards the town center and then slightly uphill towards the northeast. Shortly after the village is the signpost to the Schneetalalpe. The dirt road is moderately steep and easy to walk on.
There are two fork in the road, both times we keep right to be at the Schneetalalm after a short time. A short distance back the same way we came, we walk towards the Gimpelhaus. At the first fork in the road, go straight ahead, at the second left. We cross the slope under the rock massif of the Tannheimer Gruppe, arrive at the Tannheimer Hütte and after a short descent to the Gimpelhaus. Imposing rock walls in the background, which are ideal for climbing, and the view far into the Tannheimer valley give the hike a visual appeal. The descent is quite entertaining. A few man-made stairs and serpentine turns of the path lead us quickly to the starting point.

A wonderful hike at the foot of the climbing mountains of the Tannheimer Group. From the west car park in Nesselwängle, it is about 1 km relatively flat to the east. Afterwards, the path leads in serpentine fashion with a few steps, but is easily accessible, to the Gimpelhaus. The hike is rewarded with great views. The climbing mountains of the Tannheimer Gruppe in the background of the Gimpelhaus do their part to make this point of the Tannheimer Valley look so beautiful. The Gimpelhaus is the starting point for many hikes, mountain and climbing tours. Bullfinch and Rote Flüh, Friedberger via ferrata or the via ferrata at Köllenspitze and the surrounding huts are just a few. The descent to Nesselwängle follows the same route that we came because the route over the Schneetalalm seems too far.Tip:
Enjoy a stop at the Gimpelhaus ...

From the Neunerköpfle a beautiful mountain path leads above the Tannheimer valley past the Schrofen to the Landsberger hut.Descent over the Traualpe to the Vilsalpsee to Tannheim. Two small peaks, a great panoramic path, sparkling blue lakes and blooming alpine meadows enrich this varied hike. A gondola takes us to the starting point, so that we only have to climb a few meters on this tour.Especially when looking at the grass mountains around the Schochenspitze, the view is breathtaking when the visibility is clear: In the curve after the climb, a spectacular mountain panorama opens up to the Lachenspitze and the surrounding peaks. The Landsberger Hütte offers us a good place to stop for a bite to eat. Descent is via the Traualpe - towards Vilsalpsee and to Tannheim.Directions:
We use the comfortable and beautiful ascent option of the 8-seater Neunerköpfle gondola and float up the slope. Starting from the mountain station, we can tackle one of them straight away: A short, 15-minute path takes us up to the summit cross of the Neunerköpfles, from where we have an impressive all-round view of the Allgäu Alps, the flatlands and towards the Zugspitze.
Finally, we leave the summit on the south side and enter the Saalfelder Höhenweg (No. 421), a comfortable panoramic path along meadow slopes. In summer the alpine roses and the gentian bloom in bright colors. Sometimes an edelweiss even flashes. We continue to follow the path, to the right below we see the Usseralpe, then the Gappenfeldalpe. However, we orientate ourselves towards the Schochenspitze.Shortly before Schochen the ascent becomes steep and rocky, narrow switchbacks on grass fields finally lead us up. This summit is done in a quarter of an hour. We enjoy the view of the blue-green Traualpsee, the Landsberger Hütte and the Vilsalpsee. From the meadows at the Schochenspitze we come to a path over scree fields, on which we reach the Landsberger Hütte below the Lachenspitze. We descend to Traualpsee, and hike further down to Vilsalpsee. There you can comfortably choose the bus or walk towards Tannheim. This ends at the beginning of Tannheim, we now walk straight on the street, pass a small chapel and come to the center of Tannheim. We keep right at the roundabout and see the valley station of the gondola again, where we started our hike.Tip:
An absolute dream tour in the Tannheim mountains.
This tour was also the most popular hike in Austria and was awarded the Tyrolean Mountain Path Seal of Approval in July 2017.
