    1. Tannheimer Tal

South of Schattwald rise three magnificent view summits: the Bscheisser, the Ponten and the Rohnenspitze. The three mountains are almost 2,000 meters high and spoil you with a magnificent panoramic view over the Tannheimer Valley and the Allgäu High Alps. From the mountain station of the Wannenjochbahn an exciting trail leads over all three peaks and then down in serpentines into the valley. The route, the difference in altitude and the nature of the route make this tour a dream hike for experienced mountain hikers - and therefore quite rightly carries the Tyrolean Mountain Path Seal of Approval. The first ascent facilitates you the 3er chairlift of the Wannenjochbahn. Quick and comfortable, you float up to the mountain station, where your walk finally begins. Follow the signs to Bscheisser. On a narrow but easy path you walk across wide alpine meadows until after a while a section of rubble begins. Now it goes up in serpentines to Bscheisser, the first summit of the round. Then the route takes you a little downhill over the pass from the Güntle and then up to the Ponten. The further trail leads you over barren mountain meadows gently downhill to the Zirleseck. Here begins the ascent to the third and last peak of your tour. On a narrow, on the last meters wire insured climb, it goes up to the Rohnenspitze. After enjoying the beautiful view, follow the route down to the valley.

With the magnificent view, the untouched alpine nature and with two comfortable rest stops, the round hike on the Gräner Höhenweg is one of the most beautiful tours in the entire Tannheimer Tal - no wonder that the tour has been awarded the coveted Tyrolean Mountain Path Seal of Approval. Thanks to well-developed hiking trails, the tour is also suitable for sporty families and pleasure hikers. If the descent is too long for you, you can also take the 8-person gondola down to the valley from the Sonnenbergalm. Also possible: Turn the tour around, shorten the ascent with the gondola lift and hike from Füssener Jöchle towards Bad Kissinger Hütte. The starting point of the tour is the hiking car park "In der Enge". From here you hike on a comfortable hiking trail and then in serpentines steadily uphill to the Bad Kissinger hut. Sporting summiteers can make a detour to the Aggenstein, all others enjoy the beautiful view on the sun terrace.Afterwards you will hike on a signposted and well-developed path over beautiful mountain meadows in the direction of Gamskopf. After enjoying the view from the world's largest Tyrolean hut, the route will take you to the number two stop-off point: the Sonnenbergalm at Füssener Jöchle. Strengthened, you now hike downhill to Grän. From here it is only a short walk to the trail parking lot.

Around the Krinnenspitze, directly above the Haldensee, a wonderful hiking area awaits you. One of the most beautiful tours takes you around the Krinnenspitze in one go, taking you to three cozy alpine huts. If you cover the entire distance from Nesselwängle, there are almost 800 vertical meters in the ascent and descent on the program. If you like it more comfortable, just cut off one or both directions with the Krinnenalplift. Magnificent panoramic views, cozy huts and well-developed hiking trails have brought this hike the Tyrolean mountain trails seal of quality. The starting point is the car park next to the valley station of the Krinnenalplift. From here, the route takes you in wide bends through quiet mountain forest uphill. You wander here on a wide, comfortable path up to the first refreshment: the Krinnenalpe. A small refreshment drink and a short break later we continue on open mountain pastures. As you walk along the wide path, your gaze wanders over the mountain tops of the Tannheimer Tal.Next stop is the Nesselwängler Edenalpe. Here, too, there is no shortage of views: from the sun terrace you can look out over wooded mountain slopes to the Gaishorn, the highest mountain in the Tannheimer Tal. Only a few minutes later you reach the third station of the tour with the Gräner Ödenalpe. After a refreshment we continue around the Krinnenspitze. The path becomes narrower, but nature is also all the more original. After you have rounded the summit, you are back at the Krinnenalpe. On the ascent route - or with the chairlift - it goes down into the valley.

The highlight of the cycling season in the Tannheimer Tal is the cycling marathon, which will take place for the 11th time on 7th July 2019. For the marathon, where there are the elite discipline with 220 kilometers and 3500 meters altitude, the lighter alternatives with 131, 92 and new with 58 kilometers, you should bring a good physical fitness. All information about the event can be found here: rad-marathon.atStart and finish are in the Tannheimer Valley, right in the center of Tannheim. From there, the 220-kilometer route leads through the Allgäu and then onto the highest pass road in Germany - the Riedberg Pass at 1407 meters above sea level. With a length of 8.7 kilometers and 620 vertical meters, it has it all. From Obermaiselstein the road is very steep and winding - just a real pass road. That makes him a real challenge. This is followed by a long descent into the Bregenzerwald before the next slope starts from Egg - as it were, into the high mountains.A total of 42 kilometers increase from Egg on you, with the final climb to the Hochtannbergpass over 13 kilometers and 900 meters in altitude with a maximum of 14 percent slope. The 220-kilometer distance continues via Warth into the Lechtal valley to the Gaichtpass, where the last hurdle before the finish line in the Tannheimer Tal awaits you. "The 220-kilometer track is really demanding," confirm former cycling pros Marcel Wüst and Gerrit Glomser, who have been regulars at the cycling marathon for years.

A particularly beautiful winter hiking trail leads you from the mountain station of the double chairlift on the Krinnenalpe through snowy forests and with breathtaking views to the pastures of the Edenalpe. Where happy cows graze here in summer, you can admire the view of the Haldensee and the Tannheimer Dolomites in winter.Already the driveway of Nesselwaengle with the chairlift is a great experience: With dangling legs you can enjoy the view of the landscape and let the wind blow around your nose. Once at the mountain station, you will carefully cross the toboggan run and then follow the signposted and cleared hiking path into the light mountain forest.Between snow-covered fir trees you walk to the Haldensee lookout point. Here you can enjoy an impressive panorama: deep below you is the large lake and directly behind the rugged peaks of the Rote Flüh and the Tannheimer Dolomites tower. On the same way it goes back to the mountain station. If you still feel like having a little break, then that's no problem. The Krinnenalm is only a few meters away from the lift station. All information about the double chairlift can be found at lifte-nesselwaengle.com.

The hike from Tannheim over the Lohmoos high moor is one of the adventurous winter hikes in the Tannheimer Tal. On the one hand there are a few vertical meters on the program and on the other hand, large sections of the hiking trail are not cleared in winter. Experienced winter hikers will love the tour for its seclusion and quiet nature. From Tannheim you follow a clear serpentine road evenly uphill until a signposted hiking trail branches off to the left from the road. Here you continue uphill through a light winter forest. Soon the forest opens and gives you the view of the snow-covered mountains.Between scattered trees you follow the signposted path through the wintry Alpine landscape. After a while you have reached the highest point of the tour and through dense snow the path leads you downhill to the St. Rochus chapel and the Gasthof Zugspitzblick. Strengthened and warmed up, it goes with fresh energy down to the finish in Zöblen. From Zöblen you can take the bus back to Tannheim. The timetable can be found at tannheimertal.at/service-info/anreise-busfahrplaene/busfahrplaene.

Above Grän, another summit of view juts out into the sky: the Gamskopf. Just like the Neunerköpfle, the Gamskopf is approached by an 8-person gondola lift during the winter months. From the mountain station at Füssener Jöchle the winter hiking trail leads you directly to the panorama summit. From the valley station in Grän, the 8-person gondola lift brings you comfortably to the mountain station. From here, a signposted and cleared winter hiking trail leads directly to the Gamskopf. If you enjoyed the panorama in peace, you walk the same way back to the starting point. As a conclusion, you can plan a long rest in the Sonnenalm and enjoy the picturesque view of the mountains. Last but not least, you are floating down the gondola down to the valley. All information about the 8-person gondola can be found at lifte-graen.com/winterkarten.html.

The Vils is the defining river of the Tannheimer valley and even in winter the narrow river rarely freezes. From Schattwald you can follow the Vils through the open valley landscape to the hamlet of Rehbach, where you can dine superbly in the hotel restaurant of the same name. From Schattwald you can walk on the banks of the Vils over thick snow-covered meadows and pastures, where cows and sheep graze in summer. With a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains, you can walk past the Vilsstausee and through the sprawling valley to Rehbach. In the lovingly furnished hotel restaurant you can then take a break and finally go back freshly warmed on the same way back.

The 1,862-meter-high Neunerköpfle is a glorious viewpoint. Especially nice: even in winter, the 8-person gondola lift from Tannheim will bring you comfortably to the summit. Here you can do a little round on cleared trails and enjoy the view of the winter mountain landscape.Comfortably you float from Tannheim in the ultra-modern 8-seater gondolas over the snowy mountain slopes up to the mountain station. Here it is only a few meters to the summit. With a fantastic view you follow the signposted winter hiking trail to the summit cross on the Neunerköpfle. You can calmly look down into the valley and over the surrounding mountain peaks.Afterwards, the winter hiking trail will take you to the XL-Pausenbank. After a short rest and a funny photo, you will stroll down to the summit station below the summit. If you like, you can now make a detour to the basic hut and enjoy a decent portion of Kaiserschmarrn and a steaming coffee. After your break, the gondola lift will bring you down to Tannheim. All information about the 8-seater gondola can be found at tannheimer-bergbahnen.at.
