Of all the side valleys, the Fimbatal is, from a historical and economic point of view, the most important and interesting valley in the Paznaun Alps. The Fimbatal extends with a length of about 16 kilometers in a south-westerly direction towards the Hochsilvretta. The Talbach, Fimbabach, has drilled deep into the mountains in its lower course just before its mouth in the so-called “Kitzloch”. Starting from the church in Ischgl, the Fimba footpath leads past the Bodenalpe (1,842 meters), the Gampenalpe (1,975 meters) and the Fimba Alpe (2,123 meters). After an approx. After a four-hour walk, the 2,264 meter high Heidelberger Hut becomes visible, which is the only accommodation of the German Alpine Club on Swiss territory and is in an exceptionally beautiful location at the foot of the majestic Fluchthorn (3,399 meters). The border between Austria and Switzerland runs strangely and unnaturally. The upper Fimbatal, although it is located in the catchment area of the Paznaun, is assigned to Switzerland, so that the Swiss alpine owners have no natural access and can only get here via the 2,608 meter high Fimbapass.

This promising round also starts in Galtür. From the center you walk to Trisanna, cross it and follow the meadow path up to the Sonnenkogel. At the vantage point with a rest bench, you can enjoy the first wonderful panoramic view of the Galtür local mountains Gorfenspitze and Ballunspitze. The hiking trail then winds its way up the slope in many serpentines. After a few sweaty meters of altitude, you will reach a refuge, which is located at the highest point of this tour. You then hike slightly downhill for a while on the famous Paznauner Höhenweg. Then the stone Friedrichshafener hut appears in front of you, which is located by a small pond. You have now more than earned a fresh Kaiserschmarrn and a cool drink. With new strength, you then hike in a south-easterly direction down the valley, crossing a shady forest. At Piel's you are finally back on the banks of the Trisanna. Above the Paznauntalstraße and the river you walk back to the starting point in Galtür.

The village square in Galtür is the starting point of this varied circular hike and from there you walk to the northern bank of the Trisanna. With a view of the surrounding peaks and accompanied by the rushing water, you follow the flat path to Tschafein. At Haus Trisanna you cross a wooden bridge and then the route begins to climb. You hike through the shady Maißwald and there, where the trees are thinning, you can enjoy wide views down into the Paznaun. After six and a half kilometers you will reach the Larein Alpe, a quaint and cozy refreshment stop. On the terrace you can enjoy delicacies from the Paznaun region, such as milk, mountain cheese and butter, before you start your way back. For a while it goes back on the same path towards Trisanna until you come to the intersection at the Stafaliweiher. At the beautiful forest lake you turn left and then hike down to the valley. At the sports and cultural center you are back in Galtür and can end the day with a visit to the Alpinarium.

The Fimbatal extends with a length of about 16 kilometers in a south-westerly direction towards the Hochsilvretta. The lower course of the Talbach, Fimbabach, has bored deep into the mountains shortly before its mouth in the so-called “Kitzloch”. The cable car takes you from Ischgl to the Idalp and from there you take the chairlift to the Flimjoch. At the border between Austria and Switzerland you hike along a spectacular high path. The first peak is the 2,871 meter high Greitspitze, the summit cross of which stands on a prominent rock ledge. Then follow the route to the Palinkopf, another impressive viewpoint. Then you cross the national border and march to the 2,264 meter high Heidelberger Hut, which is the only accommodation of the German Alpine Club on Swiss territory. Its location at the foot of the majestic Fluchthorn is truly breathtaking. The way back is through the picturesque Flimbach valley. There the Pardatscher See and the Schwarzwasser See, two picturesque gems, await you. If you have a head for heights, you can dare to cross the Bärenfalle suspension bridge towards the end of the tour. Alternatively, you can take the hut taxi back to Ischgl from the Heidelberger hut by prior arrangement.

This relaxed circular hike starts at the Church of St. Sebastian in Mathon. Passing the Dreikönig Chapel you will reach a steadily rising forest path above the village and follow it. After you have crossed a small stream, you walk downhill again and finally come to the Ischgl Wildlife Park. Here you can not only experience ibex, deer and marmots up close, but also strengthen yourself in the rustic poacher's hut. After a break, you change to the south bank of the Trisanna and then hike a little up the slope. From the edge of the forest you have a beautiful view of the valley with Mathon. The last section of the circular hike takes you along the turquoise waters of the Trisanna. Cross a bridge back to the starting point at the church.

A real insider tip is this circular hike from Kappl up to the remote Durrichalpe. From the village square in Kappl, it starts off towards the north along the Diasbach. You cross the stream and climb up to Oberhaus, from where you can enjoy the first wonderful view down into the Paznaun.A steadily rising path leads you through the Sattelwald uphill. Arrived at the edge of the forest, you enter the picturesque Durrichalpe, on which there are some traditional alpine huts. These are no longer cultivated today, but make a wonderful resting place. Your view extends far over the Tyrolean mountains around the Paznaun. After you have eaten the snack you brought with you, you make your way back. From the Alm you hike back into the forest. At the next fork, keep left and zigzag down to Oberbichl. From there you follow the municipal road back to Kappl, the starting point of the circular hike.

This tour also starts in Kappl. Pass the valley station of the mountain railway, cross the Trisanna and then hike up to the Visnitz waterfall. Just a few steps away you can make a stop at the beautiful Rotwegkapelle before you follow the Visnitzbach uphill.Between the edge of the forest and the green bank of the stream, you climb up to the Visnitz Alpe, a welcome place to stop for refreshments. On the terrace you can enjoy regional delicacies such as cheese, butter and milk. Above the Alpe you will then reach a fork in the road - you leave the stream and keep to the left. Then you hike through the shady Mittereggwald until you reach the tree line. This is followed by the steep but short final climb up to the 2,249 meter high Mittagkopf. Surrounded by alpine roses, you can enjoy an impressive view of the alpine area around Paznaun. In addition to the mighty summit cross, some rest benches are waiting for you. The way back to the starting point in Kappl is the same.

This tour is also ideal as a destination for a bike & hike adventure: With the mountain bike you follow the same path to just below the summit of the Mittagkopf. There you leave your bike and hike the last kilometer up a narrow path to the summit cross.

This easy circular hike for the whole family starts at the village square in Kappl. From there you walk to the valley station of the mountain railway, then cross the Paznauntalstraße and the Trisanna and then start the ascent. A curved forest path brings you to the Rotweg chapel, which is located high above Kappl. You can take a break on the rest bench in front of the chapel and enjoy the panoramic view.It continues slightly downhill to the Visnitz waterfall, which plunges about 30 meters into the depth. Stopping at the viewing platform is an experience for all the senses: loudly, the masses of water thunder down and leave a damp spray mist on your clothing. From the waterfall it goes down to the Visnitzbach, which you cross and then you walk along the Trisanna. In Wiese you change the river bank and then hike back to Kappl on a side road.

The wonderful view from the Pezinerspitze has to be earned: the 20-kilometer loop rewards you with empty hiking trails and lots of happiness at the summit. The place See is the starting point of your tour. From there you follow the route through various hamlets to the Fernblick viewpoint in Falgenair. Before you dive into the forest, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the valley.Following the forest path, you climb partly steeply up to the beautifully situated and not managed Kleingfallalpe at 1,930 meters. Along the tree line you hike over lush and natural mountain meadows to the Pezinerspitze. Arrived at the 2,550 meter high summit, a unique view awaits you deep into the Alpine region around the Paznaun - you have now covered more than 1,400 meters in altitude. The way back then brings you to Langesthei Alpe and a little later you hike down through a forest area to Ausserlangesthei. This is followed by a section along the road to Schrofen, where the road turns into a path. The last section is winding down into the valley to your starting point in See.The Pezinerspitze is also a great destination for a bike & hike adventure: For example, you can cycle from See via Ausserlangesthei to the Langesthei Alpe and from there you take the hiking trail to the breathtaking Pezinerspitze.
