Bainbridge Island Ramblers

The Island Ramblers grew out of a walking group that Ron Williamson started several decades ago on Bainbridge Island, WA. After being affiliated with the local Park District for many years, the majority of the members chose to form the Island Ramblers, a walking collective that was separate from the Park District under the leadership of Mark Cohen that was more in tune with the objectives and values of the group.
While maintaining a fairly brisk pace, the Island Ramblers values
* walking together and thereby providing the opportunity to spend time conversing with multiple members of the Island Ramblers on each walk
* providing a place with where both new-comers to the Island and 'old-timers' can form new friendships and touch base with existing friends
* sharing our knowledge of the natural and social history of the Island while appreciating what brought us to the Island in the first place
* pausing from time to time to simply enjoy the view or talk with a local resident whose path we cross, and
* beginning and ending each walk together.
As we don’t want the cost of participation to discourage anyone from joining us, there is no “registration fee” to take part in the walks. Instead, members are encouraged to make a small donation to compensate the organizers and walk leaders.
