We had difficulty finding the way up to the pavilion and first ended up by chance at the Birkenfeld castle ruins. There isn't much left of it, but there is a nice view of the area. From the pavilion we went back down to find an adventurous path up on the other side. There is also a nice view from there

Nice tour, the loop around the Sandberg is rather unspectacular apart from the ascent and descent. Otherwise there are many highlights, some (sometimes very) narrow passages, stairs again and again, it never gets boring. A flashlight was helpful in the Heringshöhle. The small riverbed next to the path
