Although we didn’t expect much of today’s ride - perhaps due to the lack of highlights on Komoot or other information online, it was actually beautiful. Completely different to what we have seen over the course of the last two weeks, we encountered

Extreme headwind, clocking in a pace of more than 25km/h in the first hour (we’re riding +30kg bikes mind you), watching Geysirs and solving crosswords in the tent. 📝

A long day off-road ended with a few kilometres riding tarmac, leading us to a camp spot for the night filled with countless memories and anecdotes of former bikepackers, dating back years and years.

Making new friends from foreign countries and experiencing the legacy of bikepackers from the past, this ride had an emotional touch. Admittedly, it was sad to say goodbye to the Highlands and great off-road roads but more is to come! ⛺️

Today’s ride led us to the area of Kerlingarfjöll , a volcanic massive situated in the Highlands. It felt weird to be surrounded by so many tourists – all of them with cars, of course – so we decided to venture out on foot, seeking serenity

Through fields and flowers back to Reykjavik - a fitting final ride. Tomorrow, we have a rest day which we’ll use to explore the city. Iceland, we’ll come back for more! 🙂↕️
