Extreme headwind, clocking in a pace of more than 25km/h in the first hour (we’re riding +30kg bikes mind you), watching Geysirs and solving crosswords in the tent. 📝

Leaving Fairytale Valley behind, we finally make it to Akureyri. We were overwhelmed by the city - the amount of people, cars and the overall noise - so we left again shortly after our arrival.

Goodbye fairytale valley and hello Akureyri. The first part of the ride was beautiful: the river to our side, enclosed by the mountains and greeted by sheep left and ride. The final stretch into Akureyri was solely on tarmac and very boring

The final stretch in the Highlands - for now? Humbled by the hardness of the past days, we decided on Akureyri as our next destination from where we’d re-evaluate our travel plans. I wonder why now one is talking about that fairytale-like descent

Through fields and flowers back to Reykjavik - a fitting final ride. Tomorrow, we have a rest day which we’ll use to explore the city. Iceland, we’ll come back for more! 🙂↕️
