We decided to walk up to Lingmoor, starting at the Stickle Ghyll National Trust car park. Which, I’ll say now, is a great spot for a drink and something to eat at the end of your walk. The paths in the valley, and on some of the higher sections, were extremely icy, so it’s best to take your time on certain parts. Other than that, it was a great walk with some of the best views in the Lakes.

We started our walk from the Glen Mary National Trust car park and followed the Tom Gill stream up to the path around Tarn Hows, taking in the waterfall along the way. Before continuing around the rest of the tarn, we made a quick stop at Joey’s Café. We then enjoyed a good walk around Tarn Hows before heading back down via Harry Field Wood. It’s definitely a walk I’d recommend to everyone, and one you can easily tag a few fells onto in the process.

A loop around Derwent Water and one you can start anywhere. We decided to start from Great Wood and headed in a clockwise direction. There is plenty of things to see along the route and a number of places you can stop for a bite to eat.

A simple enough walk to tick off Whinlatter as part of our Wainwrights. It’s one of those you could tag multiple fells onto and make a day of. It’s also got some great views from the top.

A lovely walk from the National Trust car park in Elterwater, taking in the views along the River Brathay before heading up the south‑western edge of Loughrigg Fell, then descending via the north‑western side. A great walk with plenty to see along the route.
