Crampons would have been helpful due to snow pack dispersed throughout hike. Route was modified because of the ice. Emerald Lake was final destination and was 95% frozen over. You can hear waterfalls when exposed to the valley and eventually see one up close as you near Nymph Lake.

Moderate hike. Many good views both direction so not much need to stop and look back since saw the view again on return. WC about 2/3 up if needed. Water cool and refreshing. Squirrels curious and hungry for scraps. Cooler about halfway up.

It’s closer to 11 miles RT. Forgot to restart app at last stop on way back. Falls are beautiful and each are different than the others. The long straightaway before the lake gives outstanding view of all large peaks. No shade on this stretch. Lots of snow from last fork heading up til the lake. About
