Even a walk is nice. You don't always have to do power.

      The gallows of Mudau
The central, regional and high court
Twice a year the main court (district court) was usually held in Mudau, after Easter and after Michaelmas, ordinance in urgent cases also outside of these dates, as determined by one of the elector: Archbishopric Mainz banned from the pulpit, held; but where it is acted or taken against, that should be void, powerless, unconditionally respected and upheld. After the court is also usually opened in the year for the harvest and autumn, the harvest and autumn are to be determined there, depending on the nature of the country and chance. But in matters that require such a hurried settlement and from what delay a great harm may arise, as in the announcement of a new building, in troubles and remnants, taken against strangers and such a party covets body food and the rail-like dealings may be disregarded Schnied and Herbst on one Request parties to be dealt with as is rightly due ”. The center servant invited everyone who had to do with it, the 14 lay judges from the individual centers, the advocates (lawyers), the witnesses, the court clerk, the plaintiffs and the defendants. He opened the court session and reprimanded the omissions. The court was held in the presence of the Electoral Mainz officials from Amorbach according to old German custom in the open air under the linden tree near the town hall. The chairmanship was held by the Zentgraf, in whose absence the eldest aldermen. The court officials and the witnesses were sworn in. If someone had violated the legal provisions but asked for a fine in good time, then part of the centra's money could be waived. Otherwise the punishment took place. The penalty code was 30 Schillings in 1654 and 15 Albus in 1668 (= about 30-40 Kreuzer); it was multiplied according to the crime. Half of the centbußen belonged to the elector and the Amorbach monastery. An appeal could be lodged against the judgment at the electoral court in Mainz. The duties of the central court also included today's notarial business: drafting and sealing purchase letters, marriage pacts, birth letters, community letters, documents, etc. In addition to the central court, there was also a regional court in Mudau, which consisted of the central court, the mayor of Mudau, one lay judge each from Steinbach, Langenelz, Donebach, Schloßau and Scheidental and two lay judges from Mudau, who were accepted and confirmed by the cellar in Amorbach . It was cherished by the centgrave and had more administrative work to do; its functions were similar to those of today's district office. The regional court fines belonged half to Kurmainz and half to the Amorbach monastery. There was also a high court (our today's regional court) in Mudau, which had to take care of the embarrassing cases; prison sentences were imposed here that had to be served in Mudau prison or dungeon, or the death penalty for crimes worthy of death. After the judgment was confirmed by the Electoral Mainz High Court in Mainz, the maleficent person was either hanged or whacked by the executioner in the presence of the court officials and a curious crowd on the gallows. The last execution was in the 1760s.
