From Wechterswinkel up the Rhönberg, over the Holzacker to the Stebach and Klosterweggraben and back through the forest.

Interesting tour over small wooded hills. The Birkighütte with Panzerstraße in front of it is something quite unusual for the region.

The Gehaeg is located on the wooded mountain west of Wechterswinkel and suggests by name, that here was once a Hag was created. There is nothing left of it.

Heidelberg, Lindenberg, Windberg, Funkenberg, Kaffenberg, Dachsberg and Ochsenberg - these are the names of the mountains in the former hat area between Frickenhausen and Ostheim, the Ostheimer Forst, which is equally popular with hikers and bikers. Komoot led me through this fantastic forest, which probably has pretty much all the tree species in Germany (except firs, at least none have discovered), which one can only imagine. At the start, behind the parking lot at the junction to Unterwaldbehrungen, you only see a conifer here and there. As always, the oak trees are laggards and only tentatively green. The Hasenweg to the large Lindenberg in icy dream weather and with a clear view of the since yesterday again snow-covered Lange Rhön is just terrific, you want to spread a blanket at the wayside and linger. The Ostheimer Warte can not be seen from the street, is worth a visit in any case, if you are nearby. On the way back across the forest-free west flank with huge meadows that may still be meadows, only the clear view of the Hochrhön reminds you that you are in the Rhön foreland and not in the Allgäu.

Framed between Luitpoldhöhe, Heuweg and Rotenberg lies a hidden little valley called "Hellengarten" on old maps. The tour begins at the parking lot (operating parking!) In the chicken trench (Neuhauser road) below the Salzburg, goes through the forest with the Douglas-avenue to Heuweg and down to the Hellengarten. Unfortunately, there are sometimes no nice way, the fields are ordered far below the bushes, and the marked as "Rundweg 3" path requires the safe and injury-free handling of two machetes, but turn towards the northwest flank of the Rotenberg up the slope once around, you can see why the spot in the sun is good as a garden.

The tour leads past many highlights of the Hochrhön. But the last few kilometers drag, no matter where you start. Clockwise I like the round best. You can take along a big dog, but you can hardly enjoy the sparse water on the way, only from the Elsbach and Basaltsee. For children of all ages, the track is more of a punishment.

Very well signposted, easy trail of the Rhön club. Refreshments in Hohenroth (See Cafe Steinchen) and Windshausen (Zur Alten Schmiede). Beautiful playgrounds with shade in Hohenroth, Windshausen and Leutershausen (there with a small stream). View of the Rhön (Kreuzberg), Brend, Saale and Lauertal; up to the Gleichbergen in Thuringia in good weather. Parking around the path, especially on the lake in Hohenroth (actually start and end here), near the pond on Steinigsberg ("the three larks"), in Windshausen, in Leutershausen and in Querbachshof. With children, the stages between parking lot Hohenroth Steinigsberg and Windshausen, or Windshausen playground to the rest area above Leutershausen offer. The stage between Leutershausen and Hohenroth is more difficult for children (with the exception of the section from the parking lot on Steinigsberg counterclockwise by the Fischlesrain), here are also in two places roads to cross out of town.
