11 km round trip to the southeast of Dermbach over the Ibengarten with the Rhönpaulus Cave and back via Glattbach.Start at one of my favorite hotels "Saxenhof" in DermbachPast the cemetery in an easterly directionThen first south in the direction of the L1026 over the old bridge on the Felda. Now in the southeast to Lindenau and Lindingshof. Here you can also omit the swing over the L1026 and follow directly over the fields to the waterworks or the dirt road halfway into the forest and then walk along the trail at the western Ibengarten.Continue on the large Wanderer parking lot in the northeast of the Ibengarten on the east side long with a beautiful view of Wiesenthal. Shortly after the parking lot, the way was unfortunately almost completely destroyed, because on a narrow piece of a harvester has stirred up the clay strong. You have to go through it because the entire width of the path is affected. From here you go up to the Ibengarten itself. From the "summit" in the forest, the Rhönpaulusweg with its teaching stations and old stories descends to the refuge with a life-sized Rhönpaulus figureIn the upper third of this descent it is worthwhile to walk 100 meters on the signposted path to the Rhönpaulus Cave. In addition to some information, you can also look for a small geocache, which hides in a wooden box.About Glattbach it goes back to Dermbach.Except for two smaller climbing routes (parking Ibengarten and later at the end of the eastern flank), the hike is very easy and pleasant.I especially liked the Rhönpaulusweg with the many information boards, the cave and the beautiful view in the sunshine on the eastern flank.Information: I ran this route without a hitch in the summer, late autumn and winter. I do not cut the tracks by GPS, but "draw" them in my map of "Open Andromaps". Each track was then wandered into reality and tested. The height information was determined automatically. Of course, time information is missing in this procedure.

Start at one of my favorite hotels "Saxenhof Dermbach" First on solid agricultural roads to Oberalba. Then forest and dirt roads a little steeper in the direction of Steinberg with its small chapel. Then on the lonely road and later on a good trail to the glasses mountain and his Sundays managed "Dermbacher hut". In good weather, there is a beautiful view over the Rhön.Then descent through the forest towards Dermbach. Here there is a short distance of maybe 200m, which is a little bit more difficult and should be walked carefully in inclement weather (snow / ice).Towards the end you can decide to go downhill directly to Dermbach or to turn off the dog training ground and to see the "Dermbacher cliffs".This GPX file contains the direct descent. I went directly to map but also the cliff variant without planning. If you can handle a map to some extent, you can easily do it. The turn is marked.I ran this route without problems in summer, late autumn and in winter. I do not cut the tracks by GPS, but "draw" them in my map of "Open Andromaps". Each track was then wandered into reality and tested. The height information was determined automatically. Of course, time information is missing in this procedure.
