The Carolingian Westwerk and the Civitas Corvey are located in the middle of a largely preserved rural environment in the east of the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Höxter on the west bank of the Weser. The west work of the former Benedictine monastery of Corvey, a church room placed in front of the basilica to the west, can be seen from afar due to the pointed roofs and towers made of quarry stone masonry. With its school and library, the monastery was one of the most important mediators of Christian culture in the Middle Ages.I just had to google it for understanding.😉 Who knows what a Carolingian western work is ... at least not me, maybe our father would have known🤗
