Ex Zimbabwean long distance mountain biker and long distance hiker retired 70+ years old
Snuck into the Panshanger Park from Panshanger Lane and warmed up trotting to the start. It is quite a long uphill at the start but I found the start easier than the previous route.Deep puddle at the end that I walked slowly through with water up to my ankles.

I was a bit ambitious with 100km for my first ride after yesterday's abandon.
Having done 50km I suffered the most incredible cramp in both thighs simultaneously. I quickly turned into a side street and threw myself on the ground. Lathered on Deep Heat and pulled on leggings that I should have done sooner.
By the time I left Walkern I realised I had to call in the evacuation team.
Riding a gravel bike route on my touring bike with no suspension was "interesting" I felt every bump as I had read online that my Maxxis Minion tyre pressure is 2.5 bar - higher than I have used previously. I will lower it to 2bar.
A large part of the route I had previously ridden on my Boardman MTB.
The downhill gravel sections were fast and some tricky to handle. But I loved it. Thanks SteveP

Return from Stevenage by the short route after spending all day breaking bricks to help my friend prepare the hard core for the base for his massive shed 5.5m x 2.5m.
So the ride home was tough.
Near home I ended up flat on the road and luckily pulled me and bike off the road before a Tesco delivery driver kindly stopped to ask if I was OK.

First cycle of any real distance since early October . 60km. Pretty happy with how I did.
There was nobody on any of the off road sections and very quiet on the rest with very few cyclists or walkers.I had to battle the headwinds on the way to White Roding and put on leggings to stave off cramps in the cold on the way back. Some of the off road were very bumpy (I have no suspension on my touring bike). Horses had churned up some section that are now dry and hard as rock. Thanks MickeyMiles I extended your ride to Hoddesdon and tweaked it a bit.
