You rarely experience such a change in weather as this afternoon and then on the bike. The relaxed home round suddenly turned into a windbag that you were soon knocked over on the Hinsbeck heights near the windmill. The temperature also went up suddenly that you could hardly believe it.
I can only recommend the route itself and at some point I'll tear up the 500 meters 🚵♂️ on this “home lap”

Today we did a relaxed racing bike tour with Walter. Actually only the new crankset was supposed to be tested, but then it turned out to be a round of 70, which was fun.
And the change from sitting on the racing bike again has to be easy every now and then !!

The initial disappointment at the beginning of this still partly unknown tour turned into real enthusiasm the moment I reached the Birgeler Jungle. Okay, it was almost 30 km to get there, pretty barren and bumpy roads, but after that it was really a great tour with a fun factor. Huge forest areas, narrow trails, mud holes, slippery roots and everything else that goes with them. The only downer was a lot of thick tree trunks that had placed any “solid posts” across the trails.
From the Birgeler Urwald it went directly to Dalheimer Mühle, past gorges that I didn't know yet and where you had to drive with concentration.
This was followed by Meinweg with its areas that are slowly turning green again, which had burned in April of this year.
Via Elmpt and Brüggen (here, of course, a large portion of French fries was waiting for me again) I headed home.
The Meinweg and now also the Birgeler Urwald are great highlights and it is worthwhile to ride an MTB there, although there are still countless trails on the left and right of the route I have ridden.

One of my favorite tours in terms of landscape. The Schwalm down past the Diergard lakes to its mouth is already a highlight. Then over to the Maas up to Steyl and on the opposite side back to the landing stage of the ships “Maascruiser” is something for those who particularly like this beautiful river.
Two ferries, a very interesting lock system and, last but not least, four cute donkeys, which mostly stand on the bank near the lock and curiously watch everything that is moving.
On the way back to Brüggen via the Mundepot, a huge portion of 🍟 specialty French fries was waiting to be eaten.

Tried a few new sections behind the juniper heath. Via Swalmen we went to the White Stone (a coffee party is a must) in the direction of the Mundepot home.
Really large puddles, mud holes and slippery roots went well with the weather today, although the late afternoon was sunny.

Small, but again beautiful climbing tour around the Gruberalm.
With the 1,000 meters of altitude and 2,000 m above sea level, it wasn't quite enough.
Anyway, the descent was great again.
Unfortunately, I'm going home again tomorrow, because the Meinweg and the Süchtelner heights are calling.
But: after the vacation is before the vacation 😉
