I am the National Standard Instructor Trainer who co-founded the Bikeability Trust in 2017, where from 2018 to 2020 I led delivery of the UK government’s £12 million-a-year national cycle training programme. I recruited the Trust’s operations team, developed the current UK National Standard for Cycle Training based on four core functions, introduced Ofqual-regulated qualifications for instructors and instructor trainers, reformed the Bikeability grant administration and quality assurance systems, created the Bikeability Adult and Bikeability Family training courses, piloted the Cycle Savvy Driving course for approved driving instructors, and designed the Bikeability impact evaluation that persuaded government to offer cycle training to every child in England .
