________________________________

On the road since ... an apprentice explorer, I wander between Europe and Asia, walking or biking, aspiring to be a modern nomad. I have a foot in France, the other in Japan, and an anchor point in South India.

My last "feat" to date: crossing France by foot in a diagonale, 1400km from the Manche to the Mediterranean sea taking small paths.

I also write for komoot as a freelance editor for collections in France, for bike touring and hiking!

The last stage of this hike on the Cantal mountains takes you to Murat where you had started a few days earlier. This is the easiest part of the route, where a sense of accomplishment is sure to double your motivation.

The penultimate stage of this eight-day hike is the one with the most elevation gain, 1140 meters. And for good reason: today you will go to the top of Plomb du Cantal, the highest peak in the Cantal Mountains, and the second highest in the Massif Central after Puy de Sancy! It is a 19.3 kilometer stage

Here is a shorter and easier stage which will allow you to recover a little after the stages of the last days with the more marked elevation. This day will allow you to reach the village of Thiézac from Mandailles over 13.3 kilometers.

This is the fifth day of this journey along the GR 400. The route takes you from Le Fau to Mandailles for a demanding 24-kilometer stage with a fairly significant drop in altitude. The stage evolves along the ridges and is in my opinion one of the most beautiful of the GR 400.

The fourth stage of this tour in eight days is quite sporty, especially as you should start to feel the fatigue setting in, but still so sublime. You will understand, each day brings its share of scenery, ranging from the planèze peaks to the sumptuous settings of the Cantal mountains.

This 12.6 kilometer stage is the shortest stage of the entire circuit offered in this Collection. This is an opportunity, if it has not already been done, to really enjoy the landscapes, the burons crossed at random along the way, the wonders of the fauna, flora and geology. This second stage, which will take you through the Roland Gap and the Puy Mary, the highlight of the day, is legendary on the GR 400 and will amaze you.
