Avoid the bit the cuts across the penisula at the north end of the route as it's the most miserable hike-a-bike through a bog I've ever dealt with and the forest before you come back out onto the road is unrideable. I'd recommend sticking to the road and picking up the trail when starts heading back to applecross.
