The first half of the tour runs partly through boxwood forest. The last 1.5 km are along the road. It would probably be better to start at the parking lot 1.5 km before the end of the trail. However, the view of the canyon is incredible and highly recommended.

Along the levadas, there's actually no noticeable elevation gain at all. We extended the Rother tour a bit. A flashlight is necessary in the tunnels, and waterproof shoes are helpful.
