This roundtrip is actually only partly recommendable but the part through the Gorge is really beautiful - and it ends at one of the best taverns from Crete (well, as far as I know). I had tried to find some roundtrip from Anissras without using a taxi or a car.

It's a very nice hiking tour up a mountain and down through a river bed. Back on the Lasithi Plateau you may add a visit at the Diktaio Cave, a stalactite cave where Zeus was born. I saw many vultures there; one of them came really close. But, of course, there are also beautiful flowers and butterflies
