Insgesamt umfasste die Wanderung ca 16 km, ich musste die Tour leider nach ungefähr der Hälfte abspeichern, um die Aufzeichnung zu retten und Komoot neu starten. Daher gibt es zwei Teile. Die Landschaft wird mit jedem Kilometer spektakulärer, die Schlucht immer enger mit tollen steilen Felsformationen. Sie endet in dem Dorf Agia Roumeli, das nur per Schiff oder zu Fuß durch die Schlucht erreichbar ist. Von dort ging es mit der Fähre weiter nach Chora Sfakion, wo der Bus uns erwartete.

Mit dem Bus ging es über unendliche Serpentinen zur Hochebene von Omalos zum Eingang der Schlucht. Anfangs ging es über mehr als 2km teilweise über Stufen ziemlich steil nur abwärts und dann entlang des Flussbettes relativ eben weiter. Der Fluss bzw. Bach war teilweise mit Wasser gefüllt, teilweise ausgetrocknet und musste mehrfach gekreuzt werden. Konditionell gut machbar, aber Trittsicherheit absolut wichtig. Zunächst war die Schlucht noch relativ breit und wurde dann immer enger. Eine beeindruckende Wanderung in atemberaubener Landschaft.
