Komoot must have somehow lapsed into cold rigidity🥶 while recording. It was actually 43.3 km in a time of 2:35 hours

After what felt like an eternity it was only going to work and back by bike, today is the first little ride in 2022, with spring-like temperatures. Happy New Year everyone.

In between we had to push something, the ascent was a bit too steep. But there was a great view in fantastic weather

Besides the tour of the old town, it turned out to be a little bike ride, as a marathon through the city was completed in the morning and nothing really worked.

Today is our last stage. Mostly pure nature again. The highlight was the Nordkirchen moated castle. Bicycling is allowed in the park, the area is huge, there should be 8 km of paths. Interior visits only with registration. Today the castle serves as a training center for budding tax officials. There is also a registry office and since today is Saturday we were getting married. During the time we were there, 6 newlyweds were sighted.
The Dortmund - Ems - Canal is used at the WE for the rowers for training. Weather played great again today.

Today is our penultimate stage. The first 20 km turned out to be a mountain tour, beautiful elongated climbs that were tough for flat countries. Past the Benedictine Abbey Gerleve, along the Dortmund - Ems Canal, past Kakesbeck Castle (also privately owned). As a conclusion for today still the moated castle Vischering.

Today again pure nature, always away from the streets. Just cycle, relax, and enjoy. Again a moated castle that is not free to visit is used as a youth education center

Today excursion to the neighboring country. Crossing the border was completely inconspicuous. An increasingly narrow sandy path through the landscape protection area. And then - Zack passed the asphalt cycle path border. Then drive through a picture book landscape. Closed avenue, right and left lush meadows with browns on them 🐄. Bredevoort has to be seen in its entirety. It's fantastic how the traffic works for all road users with almost no traffic signs. Aalten is a small, contemplative town, unfortunately a lot of empty shops, but plenty of restaurants. The border crossing to D was again just as unspectacular, up to the border asphalt and then again first of all a sand track. Finally, in Germany, a detour to Gut Heidefeld. Unfortunately, during the week the café is only open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
