Mostly smooth tarmac, except for several gravel sections (mostly pea-size) between Connel and Glencruitten.
But with at least 25mm tyres you should be fine.
The cycling lane towards Baracaldine and the B845 are a delight in early morning conditions. Saw two deer on the B845 on a lovely summer morning!
Highlight for me was the deserted road/track between Kilchrenan and Musdale.
Mostly tarmac, but ca. 1 mile or more of gravel, partly rather rough/tennis bal sized rocks. A 33mm cyclocross tyre seems not suited here. On the other hand a MTB is probably unnecessary, any bike with 40mm+ tyres should do the

This tour is mostly tarmac on quiet roads.
Between Taynuilt and Kilchrenan (B845) you may encounter some lorries, as there's a quarry mid distance.
Between Kilchrenan and Musdale the road/gravel track goes a bit rougher, both in terms of lots of small 15% ramps as well as rough gravel near Musdale. Was
