This is a stunning waymarked circular route which explores some of the stunning countryside around the town of Ballater.. We opted to take the short detour to Knock Castle which I would highly recommend. We used this as a rest and refuel stop and the views were stunning. This is a relatively flat walk

    1. At only 299 m, Scolty is a low hill on the eastern edge of the Grampian Mountain range. However the views from the top are extensive and very rewarding, assisted by two hill-finders, one fixed on the southern aspect, one on the northern. All of the town of Banchory is seen nestling underneath the hill

    1. This is a great and straightforward walks through some lovely forest settings. The paths are mostly forest roads and are in reasonable condition. Some small pot holes but these are very visible and easy to spot and walk past. Towards the top of the trail there are stunning views out over Aberdeenshire.

    1. There are so may circular routes at Bennachie but this is one of my favourites. Some small uphill sections that can be taken at a slow pace. There are stunning view of Bennachie itself and over Aberdeenshire to Westhill. There are toilet facilities at the carpark area. there are plenty of benches
