The public conveniences at the west beacon and fort are inconveniently closed to see if it saves the council money but the ferry at weekends, holidays and peak season provides a quick escape over to Littlehampton and it’s many cafes, pubs and shops.

This is a great walk for wildcrafting and will be another bluebell fest in a few weeks; right now the woods are full of violets, anemones, celandine, primroses and a little white flower I keep forgetting the name of.

This is the perfect springtime walk and also if introducing visitors to archetypal English countryside- village with fabulous teas, pond, churches, and interesting history, plus woods filled with birdsong, fields full of gambolling lambs, baby cows, and paths lined with primroses, anemones, violets and bluebells.

We did this route to see if we could walk from our closest railway station to our house. 20mins train journey from Brighton to Ford...then an hour walk through mud. I’d probably only do this during the summer for fun, but wouldn’t use it as a commute. However, once the bike path is complete alongside

Not a workable round trip unless you want to walk three sides of a two sided field, or get locked out of a right of way by Southern Electric. Awesome butt and thigh workout in the mud and along the flint beach! Not sure beach route is doable safely at high tide but would be fabulous for storm watching.
