Bennerley Iron Giant and Erewash Canal
Route via Newstead Abbey to Ilkeston/Bennerley. Visitor centre cafe for lunch (limited open days). Ride over the Iron Giant then along the Erewash canal to Langley Mill. Return via Moorgreen Reservoir and Annesley Hall. Then through Annesley woods.

Fledborough and Trent Vale
First time on Trent Vale. Nice villages on this route, very few cars on the country lanes. Some new gravel paths, still needs to bed in a bit. Hardcore on lane passing Girton Sailing Club. Coffee shop at the side of Coop supermarket in Collingham.

Doddington Hall
Great ride on country roads and cycle route trails. Went to Grainstore cafe for a Sausage cob. Arrived just after 12 no longer serving breakfast meals.

Netherthorpe Airfield & Chesterfield Canal
Ride to Netherthorpe for plane spotting at Sheffield Aero Club, great cafe there for lunch. Came back down Chesterfield Canal, Turnerwood is a real beaty spot on the canal.

The Swamp Thing

Southwell Minster (Cathedral)
Nice ride out and back via Sherwood Pines and Southwell trail. Walked around the Catheral grounds. Planned to stop at Woodberry Cafe in Farnsfield, found out it closed November 2025. Found a Farnsfield butchers shop, pavement table and excellent chilli jam sausage roll with a coffee!
