Highest peak in the Bavarian Ammergau Alps. The ascent begins relaxed to warm up, leads through the forest and becomes increasingly steep and rocky. Out of the forest it goes like a serpentine over a larger scree field. In the upper part it is called "Kraxeln" and hands on the rocks.
Sensational views, Zugspitze and Eibsee are exactly opposite and the entire Ammergau Alps offer a great panorama.

Directly on the border with Austria, at the parking lot to Ammerwaldstrasse at the seven springs, the trail branches off (hiking trail 241). We cross the rubble stream of the Neualmbach diagonally upwards to a visible mark. The wide forest path that begins here gradually becomes a narrow path.
The path through the mountain forest and later over serpentines to the Hochgrieskar (1,500m). In the Kar it goes up in serpentines until we can leave it at 1,678 m to the right. In part in the rugged terrain (I), the Schwarzenköpfl is bypassed ascending to the right.
From the saddle behind the Schwarzenköpfl the path follows the mountain ridge eastwards to the rocky summit. Follow the red marking through barren rock (sure-footedness required). Demanding part is coming now. the tour is now on.
The run to the summit cross is less spectacular, but fantastic views and an unforgettable panorama.
The descent leads over the ascent.

Next time the tour would go around differently. On the one hand because of sun and aG of the way. Descent was very steep and coordinatively demanding. Very nice, great view. Summit plateau invites you to take a long break.
For the next time: Parking and refreshments> Ettaler Mühle
